Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL)Australia Vice President Tony King at an Australian Parliament inquiry into high markups on technology goods and services blamed right holders that they created price disparity in the company’s digital content internationally.

He said that Apple’s iTunes pricing in Australia is “comparable to other Australian physical and online stores.”

The markup in Australia averages as much as 61.4% for music, 33.5% for movies and 25.9% for TV shows when compared with the U.S ones after the accountability of Australia’s Goods and Services Tax.

Markups are seen majorly in Mac, iPad and iPod prices in Australia generally falling within 10% of U.S. prices.

Apple has taken efforts for parity in pricing of its products in Australia keeping in consideration Australian Goods and Services Taxas well as the cost of delivering its products to the country.

Intel Corporation(NASDAQ:INTC) hopes to give its customers more targeted packages of TV and Internet content through its upcoming TV set-top box offered at different prices addressing the needs of users.

Through a customized Web user interfaceIntel will release a set-top box that will deliver live TV and on-demand content later this year. It is expected to replace cable TV boxes, Apple TV or Roku boxes, and will also deliver TV and Internet content to tablets and smartphones.

Eric Free, vice president and general manager of content and services for Intel Media said that there are people who cannot afford the cable TV, this set top box targets younger audiences who want convenient access to live TV, on-demand TV and Internet content in a single box.

Social media, gaming and other online activities will be brought together by the box to the living room TV watching experience.

He further added that content compression techniques are improving, and the Internet download speed will quadruple by 2015.
